SEERAGA SAMBA

This variety is named after Seeragam (cumin seed) due to its similar structure and aroma. This is the first rice variety from Tamil Nadu to get the Geographical Indication tag. It is also an age-old rice that is native to Tamil Nadu. This traditional variety is very famous, tiny, nutritious and aromatic. It is one of the exotic and expensive rice varieties used to prepare ‘Biriyani’, especially for feasts.
HEALTH BENEFITS: • Contains high fibre, antioxidants and rich in selenium which might help to reduce the risk of developing colon cancers and intestinal cancers. • It helps to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL level) and increase good cholesterol (HDL level). • It strengthen the heart due to the presence of phytonutrients. Phytonutrients also helps women to fight against breast cancer. • Low glycemic food, hence recommended for diabetic’s patient too.
• It has low level of sodium, so that is considered one of the best food for people suffering from high blood pressure and hypertension.
IN EVERYDAY LIFE This rice has to be soaked for at least 30 mins for best results. This can be incorporated as an alternative to Basmati Rice in any biriyani / Ghee Rice / Coconut Rice.
